there are alot of new members here, and i just wanted to say that although most here don't believe that the wt is "god's organization" there are many such as myself (i have never been a jw) that believe that the bible is inspired scripture*.
loosing faith in a religious organization does not necessarily mean that you must also loose faith in god.
i have a personal relationship withn the god of the bible and can tell you that he is real and wonderful.

I know. I am only speaking for myself, and what I know (the US)
The Catholic religion is the largest christian religion in the world, and Baptist are the biggest in the US. Thats all.
My point is, and I think the Jws target the easiest possible converts. I think they do one thing here, and maybe a different thing elswhere. Well, I dont think it, I know it.
That is why they have one set of rules here in the USA, and another set in someplace like, say, Eastern Europe, where the Ortodox Church is big. (they are allowed to celebrate Christmas for example) Or so I have read.
Here is an example of what I am saying. (or trying to say)
In America, there is this misunderstanding that blacks are welfare abusers.
But looking at demographics, and doing the math, that is bogus.
There are secluded inner cities, where the economy sucks, and that may be true, but taken on a whole, there are more whites in America than blacks, Thus, there are more whites on welfare than blacks.
See, it is a matter of looking at it micro, vs. macro.

Firstly, that wasnt an argument, it was a response,
my response is, There are more Catholics in this country and most others, than Hindus, or Buddists.
The dubs acting in a missionary capacity tend to avoid countries where they meet stiff oppisition, i.e. Muslim countries.

Secondly, my advice to you is this,
More than a ''working knowledge'' is needed.
Jehovah's Witnesses cannot be ''logically'' reasoned with, so your attempts will probobly be futile.
It is very hard to explain the Jw mentality, there are many emotional issues involved, that you cant understand, not ever having been there.
I apologize if I have misunderstood you, but I am thinking you arent or never have been a dub, and are coming from a Christian perspective.
If this is the case, then you can do nothing but perhaps, ''plant a seed''.
To these people, you are satans son.
They want to convert you, and anything you say will simply make them more sure of the fact in their minds, you are demon possessed, and bird food.
You are better off to not meet with them, and leave them to learn from the ones who have walked a mile in their shoes...

Baptist are the largest denomination in America, so I would expect a high percentage of them in the ranks too.

Yes, what Blondie said is true.
It is simply, this, Catholics are the largest denimination in the world, so naturally, the percentage of converted catholics are the highest.
i agree with beryl and the poster who said he likes ambivilence.
i honestly do not know anymore and i think that belief in christianity is too narrow.
i do not think christianity is bad or wrong, just that it closes the door to many other possibilites.
